About Wine Investment

The Fonthill Estate dates from the Tudor period, first appearing in 1533 as a fine house nestled in extensive parkland. The original building has long since disappeared, but in its place now stands Fonthill house, built by John Morrison, 1st Lord Margadale, in 1972.
EHD, who run the storage facility at Fonthill, is a specialist wine warehousing and distribution company, with almost twenty years’ experience in the industry. In working with EHD, the leaders in wine storage and security, we give our clients access to the very best warehousing available for any fine wine collection.
Buried deep in the tranquility of the Wiltshire countryside, the vaults lie within specially customised former RAF bunkers. Attention has been specifically focused on the requirements for fine wine storage: security, humidity and temperature controls, knowledgeable staff and logistics.
The Fonthill Estate Vaults describe themselves as a ‘show bunker’, offering something far beyond a wine warehouse. If clients wish to use the space to host guests, then luxurious facilities have been designed in which you can enjoy your wine with friends, family or associates.
With a recently renovated guest house on site, set in landscaped gardens, it makes an idyllic scene. Nonetheless, our priority always remains the wine, which is kept at an ambient temperature of 10 to 15 degrees Celsius – the ideal temperature for the long term storage of fine and rare wines.
Likewise, humidity controls have been set to prevent corks from drying out, and, given that the vaults are deep in a former bunker, sunlight and its harmful UV rays cannot act to degrade your wine.
Instead, those precious vintages can age away to perfection, improving in optimum conditions and in total security. And, as a wine’s storage history is intrinsic to its value, the Fonthill Estate Vaults provide a major advantage to your investment portfolio.
