Tignanello leads the pack
Tignanello and Sassicaia were the top two Super Tuscans in terms of trade last week, with both wines seeing an increase in value. Tignanello is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, while Sassicaia is made entirely of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2018 Sassicaia is currently the most expensive wine on the Italy 100 list, with a value of $478 per bottle. The 2017 vintage of Tignanello is not far behind, with a value of $460 per bottle.
The average price per case (12×75) of a super Tuscan hit £2,686 (US$3512) in the first half of 2022, up from £2524 (US$3300) in the same period last year.
